3DViewStation offers more advanced 3D CAD model analysis functions

April 21, 2017

Perform wall thickness measurements and analysis using ray method; heat map displays results.

Ahead of COE Annual 3D Experience and TechniFair, KISTERS North America has released version 2017 of 3DViewStation Desktop. The powerful 3D CAD viewer and universal viewer now features several updates for engineers and designers, including wall thickness analysis via rolling ball method and sections of selections.

Often implemented for its modern user-interface, high performance viewing, advanced analysis and integration capabilities into leading PLM systems, 3DViewStation has current and mature importers for a broad range of 3D and 2D formats. Formats include but at not limited to CATIA, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Inventor, JT, 3D-PDF, STEP, DWG, DXF, DWF, and MS Office.

“3DViewStation provides a rich set of analysis functions used daily by many IN the manufacturing industry,” said Jim Eardly, OEM industry veteran and Sales Manager with KISTERS North America .

Basic functions include measurement of sections, and now the option sections of selections. Advanced analysis functions allow 2D and 3D comparisons, projected area calculations, draft angle analysis and clash detection.

“3DViewStation allows to perform wall thickness measurements and dimensions and also a wall thickness analysis based on the ray method,” added Eardly. “Results are displayed as a heat map; graduated colors reflect calculation results. Depending on the geometry of the CAD model the new, alternative rolling ball method leads to much better results.”

KISTERS’ 3DViewStation is continuously enhanced in response to customer needs and requirements. It is available as Desktop, ActiveX and HTML5 WebViewer product-versions. All products are intended to be used together with a PLM, ERP or other management system product configuration or service and spare part applications, providing all necessary APIs. For cloud, portal and web-solutions, an HTML5-based WebViewer solution is available without software installation. All file formats can be used in combination with the intelligent navigation and hyperlinking features to address needs of complex integration scenarios.
