Matt Ables, P.G. has been promoted to management. In his new role, Ables will continue to contribute to system design, sales, and project oversight for KISTERS North America. He however will be much more involved in budgeting and administration.
In 2008 Ables joined the subsidiary of KISTERS AG as a Project Manager. He previously worked as a hydrologist for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) in Austin, Texas. The central Texas native has experienced a variety of extreme conditions, in particular torrential rains and flash flooding of Texas Hill Country where flow data is crucial in managing the rivers before, during and after storm events which too often have escalated into emergencies.
He holds a master’s degree in Geography from Texas State University and a bachelor's degree from Baylor University. Ables has had the privilege of working with Dr. Joanna Crowe Curran of the University of Virginia in the area of measuring mixed bedload transport with an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). The findings were presented at the 33rd Congress of the International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR).
KISTERS has been designing and delivering data management software for more than three decades, focusing on water resources management, resource optimization, energy market systems, and air quality management.
In January, 2016, Matt Ables assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for KISTERS North America after the subsidiary founder Stan Malinky retired. In 2017, the board of directors officially changed his title to Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
