Discharge Measurement & Hydstra Users Group Workshop
Date
28 - September 29, 2026
Location
Ventura, CA, USA
Ventura County, Department of Public Works and KISTERS are hosting a discharge measurement and Hydstra users group workshop.
On day 1, Monday, Sept 28, beginning at 8:30 AM, hydrographers will bring gauging equipment and conduct discharge measurements at a designated stream monitoring site in Ventura County, California. A number of ‘measurement sections’ will be established. Each team will measure using a variety of instruments and techniques. All results will be compiled for some analysis and a discussion about ADCP boats, wading measurements with rod mounted acoustic or mechanical meters, etc. The gauging regatta will provide hands-on opportunities for all participants to access data and share knowledge on data collection equipment and procedures in a variety of field conditions.
On day 2, Tuesday, Sept 29, starting at 9 AM, system admin and users of Hydstra software will convene to discuss best practices, enhancements to and implementation projects of the hydrology software by KISTERS. Dylan and Paul will be on hand to present and facilitate conversions that support robust data workflows for flood control, hydropower and irrigation districts.
There’s no cost per participant in this event. However, pre-registration is required before Friday, Sept. 25, 2026 so that appropriate logistics can be arranged.
Note: No specific hotel is designated. KISTERS will provide lunch and dinner on Monday as well as lunch on Tuesday.
